Final Words...

So some final words... Well actually, I think I've pretty much said all I wanted to say in the last post!

Youtube Upload and the Aftermath...

This project has really gotten me acquainted with Flash again. I have used the program before in the past but it has been so long that I forgot pretty much everything about it. Almost. OK, that might be a bit if an exaggeration but I am quite unfamiliar with it.

I mostly used keyframes because I really just don't like the look of motion tween. The character also had lots of fast movements that allowed me to include in-betweens that had exaggerated motion blur. Tom (the character) was actually all separated into cut out pieces because he was originally supposed to be motion tweened. Since that plan went down the toilet and I ended up keyframing everything, one layer for the character could probably have sufficed. But nevermind...

Overall the style and direction I went with regarding the clip was rather simplistic in choice because of several reasons. Either, I'm pretty happy with what I came up with. I will definitely be using Flash more in the future. I absolutely love how efficient it is.

Ah, what the hell.

Here is the final video. I actually want to tweak a TEEEEEENSY bit before I hand it in. There's a blank white screen at the end and I need to make the credits extend to the end. I also inbetweened rather quickly and carelessly at times, so I'm probably going to go back in flash sometime to make the animation run smoother. On another note there is one thing I forgot to mention. Instead of making it the "Death of Maya," I kind of just used the blue screen of death. It's more universal, anyway. Hahaha~

I'll post the process and behind the scenes tomorrow! :D

EDIT: Fixed the codec and stuff so the video's good to go! :)

VICTORY!

WOOHOOOOO I'M FINALLY DOONNNNNEE!!! I'm a little preoccupied with stop motion finals right now, so I will post the finished clip tomorrow sometime after 7:30 PM. I'm also going to post up some old progress screen shots since I never got to post them earlier.

BIG THANKS TO COOPSTAH FOR DOING MY SOUND! It sounds way better than anything I would be able to do. :)

AAAANNNDD... I'M DONE!

Well, with the animation. Time to hand it to the sound designer. :)

INBETWEENING! INBETWEENING!

I am currently an inbetweening MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

OKKKKKK

So.. I'm almost done... I still need to inbetween a lot of things, but no biggie, the BIG part is done. I'm hoping to get done in-betweening around tomorrow or maybe even Monday. But anyway, after that it's all good to go! (OK, after that sound is put in, of course).

Rise from the dead

Wow. I have somehow neglected to update my blog. Yikesssss... But, um well, suffice to say, it's going fine. I actually have to get most of it done tonight since I have to hand it off to the sound designer. It will definitely be done by this weekend.

I actually don't really like the title screen that much. I'll probably change it when I'm done with the whole animation.

First Part

Here is an animatic for my first scene deadline. I should have the finalized version by the end of the week.

Something...

The good news is that I've got a sound designer that will work on my project. :D I'm pretty excited about it because now I can just focus on the animation. Not only that, I'm sure he will do a much better job than I would have trying to work with sound. Hahaha~

In other news, Here is my layout for the entire animation.

OK, OK, it's the same as my lip sync exercise buuuut... That's exactly it! I've already separated his head in flash so after that I will separate the arms and probably the index finger so he can click his mouse. The setting will be like this the entire time, he will just kind of move around from this initial position. It works because most people who are so immersed in their computers are usually pretty stationary and ignorant of their surroundings anyway.

BLARRGGHHH!!!!

I'm running behind schedule a little... Midterms has definitely kicked my booTAY! I've got my character down and some of his head replacement, but I still need to get out the animatic.

Lip Sync Exercise

Here is a LipSync exercise. The audio is taken from American Psycho. GO TEAM BALE! The character is the one I will be using for my final animation. :D

Some more execises

Here is the second rotoscope exercise. I had my friend walk all goofy since the Muybridge walk is rather plain.

And then here is my walk cycle. A very skimpy model showing off the latest in men's heels! Wait... what?

Bouncing Ball Tutorial

This is the first bouncing ball tutorial. I've used flash before but It has been a really long time. I think these foundation exercises are very helpful.

This one is the second exercise where I use the custom ease-in/ease-out. Again, these exercises are very helpful. I've never actually bothered with such tools when I experimented with flash ages ago (yikes, amateur!).

SCRIPT!

I've figured it out! So after reading the comments from my last entry, I've decided that a battle scene miiight be a bit too ambitious.

I'm still doing a 'finals' theme, but it's going to be on a more specific dilemma. More specifically, Maya dying. We are all too familiar with this. I've decided to take our experiences and apply it to the five stages of grief... Comically, of course. I was thinking the title could be something like... "The Death of Maya." Along with that title I want to make a parody illustration of The Death of Marat but in place of Marat's head, it will be a computer screen.

Anyhow, here is the script! As with anyone familiar with the five stages of grief, I'm sure you know what to expect. That's exactly why I chose this subject. Most people are familiar with the concept of grief. ESPECIALLY that of a computer program that decides to shut off without having been saved. My only concern is that... I hope this isn't too cheesy...

Speaker

Sound

Action

Mouse clicks, Eye pop,

Character A notices something is wrong. Cut to computer. The hourglass icon has been there for an eternity. Breaking the fourth wall, Character A looks at the viewer in shock.

Title : The Five Stages of Grief

Scoffing

Title: Denial

He scoffs and shakes his head at the computer. It’s no big deal!

SCREAMING! SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER! COMPUTERS BREAKING! PEOPLE GETTING PUNCHED!

Title: Anger

He finally goes berserk! Chairs are thrown! computers are shaken! People are punched!

Hand smack together, mutter (gibberish)

Title: Bargaining

He clasps his hand together and mutters a few words of prayer.

Sobbing

Title: Depression

Poor guy… He is sobbing uncontrollably. He is possible shaking someone.

???

Title: Acceptance

I've left the last row blank because I'm still toying with different ideas...

Premise

*SIIGGHHH*

I've thought about this long and hard... For a while... It seems I am still in PRE-pre production stage.

My original idea is to create a comedy piece. OK, OK, I know, a little vague. But let's see... I've thought about the direction that I want to take... My target is first and foremost my fellow students. I want to create something that we, as students, can all relate to. I've thought of taking some of the horrors of our daily life as a premise. Let's just say, students can turn quite monstrous during finals week. It's almost like a battlefield! I want to do something mundane like... Students trying to use the same equipment. But then it turns into this giant overexaggerated battle...

I'm still developing... AUGH! I should have posted way earlier :O

Childhood memories JOGGED

When I was much younger, there were two animations that really stuck with my and my sister. We weren't really sure why, but they just did. We couldn't remember the entirety of the cartoon but the bits and pieces that we did remember, it really made an impression that never left us. One of them had two very poor kids who collected pieces of wood so they can start a fire in their meager home with their mother. As they collect fire, they pass through stores and bakeries, admiring them from the storefront. The other one had a pair of love birds who were separated for sometime but later reunited. Several months ago, I finally found them on youtube! I was so excited that I immediately sent the link to my mom, who loved the cartoons just as much. I was surprised to learn that they were in fact made by Max Fleischer.

I love these...

Some of my favorite animation (that I can think of off the top of my head):

Quiet possibly, one of the funniest short I've seen in a while. Sailor Moon brings up childhood memories, hahahaha. It's funny, and it's well done! AWESOME!

LOVE this video clip.

Creature Comforts! My only complaint about this video is the low volume... But nothing that can't be solved without a little help from headphones! An interview about art... Seriously, I LOVE Aardman.

An Introduction

Drawing is my life. I will never cease doing so until my hand somehow fails me. In which case I will probably draw with my mouth. Or my feet. Well, you catch my drift. Being able to make my drawings come to life is such an amazing concept. It piqued my interest in animation. Even better though, are the characters that COME to life. Characters that move us, make us cry, make us laugh, make us think and ponder. That is, in fact, what truly brought me to animation: Characters.

My name is Nisa and this is my Production Blog. I hope you will enjoy your stay. :)
